Hello everyone,
Just wanted to provide a quick update on the recent course maintenance efforts. We’ve made significant progress on several holes, focusing on cleaning up tee pads, fairways, and basket areas. Here’s a breakdown of what’s been done:
✅ Completed Work:
Hole 1
- Tee pad, fairway, and basket area cleaned up
- Middle fairway lane staked for brush hogging
- Tee pad area is prepped and ready for wood chips
Holes 2 & 3
- Staked out a new area for the existing tee pad to be moved
- Two stakes placed indicating the mandatory fairway line
- Cleaned fairway to #2 basket and the basket area itself
- Plan to use an extra tee pad near Hole 17 temporarily to maintain 18 playable holes while new one is developed
Hole 4
- Tee pad, fairway, and basket area cleaned
- New trail cut to lead toward Hole 5 tee pad
- Ongoing work to keep trail open
- Plan to build a small bridge at trail end approaching Hole 5
- Tee pad area ready for wood chips
- Wooden stake placed at fairway corner for brush hogging
Hole 5
- Tee pad and fairway cleaned
- Tee pad area ready for wood chips
- Dead trees in fairway marked for removal with ribbon
- Stake placed at proposed new basket location
- Brush hogging areas marked near new basket site
Hole 6
- Tee pad and basket area cleaned
- Tee pad ready for mulch
- Right side of fairway staked for brush hogging back to drainage ditch
- Left side staked to allow access behind the basket
- Noticed dumped pine clippings, logs, and branches just off the fairway—this area is a common landing zone for discs. Not sure if this was from maintenance?
Hole 7
- Tee pad, fairway, and basket area cleaned
- Tee pad ready for mulch
Hole 17
- Tee pad, fairway, and basket area cleaned
- Tee pad ready for mulch
Hole 18
- Tee pad, fairway, and basket area cleaned
- Tee pad ready for mulch
- Several dead trees marked with ribbon for removal
⏳ Still To Do:
We still need to tackle Holes 8–16 (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16). The plan is to resume cleanup work on the last weekend of July.
🗓 Upcoming Absence:
I’ll be out of town from June 26 through after the 4th of July, attending the Disc Golf Masters Worlds in Minnesota. In the meantime, I’ll continue marking trees and brush hog areas with the goal of having everything marked by mid-July.
📣 Community Feedback & Mowing Request:
Several disc golfers and local dog walkers have reached out about the course needing mowing. I’ve let them know I’d bring it to the Township’s attention. The grass is quite tall due to the recent rain. Hopefully, mowing can be scheduled soon.
Overall, the feedback from both disc golfers and nature lovers has been overwhelmingly positive!
Thanks to everyone who has contributed and continues to support this course. Let’s keep it going strong!
